Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

"I believe the greatest gift I can conceive of having from anyone is to be seen by them, heard by them, to be understood and touched by them."

Approach

Welcome.

Finding a therapist can be a daunting process.  Although there are a lot of great therapists out there, it does not necessarily mean that each one is the right fit for you.  Trust, respect and personality styles are important factors in any relationship, but especially in therapy.

With the belief that the relationship between client and therapist is central to growth and healing, my style is warm, nurturing, client centered, collaborative, strength based and empowering.

I do not believe in a one size fits all model for therapy, and meet my clients where they are.

Together we will discover what "a life worth living" looks like for you, and support you in getting there.

While I have specialized training in treating children ages 0-5, school aged children, and adolescents,

I also work with families and adults to help you envision your best lives and reach your full potential.

I provide office, telehealth & in-home services to fit your preference and lifestyle.

Child/

Adolescent

As a parent, you may worry about how your child is navigating the world.

Growing up can often be challenging and confusing, and when children do not know how to express their inner experiences, they can react by either going inward or acting out in "challenging" ways.

I help children

understand what they are feeling and how they relate to the world, and give them the tools to enable them to better express themselves.

My goal is to deepen your child's sense of self worth and identity, and build confidence in their strengths.

Adult

While many people seek therapy in an effort to relieve distressing symptoms, I support my clients in understanding the source of their symptoms in order to create true healing. Through our work

together, you will gain better insight about

yourself and the way you relate to the world around you.

I provide a holistic approach to therapy, incorporating all aspects of my clients' lives.  The goal is to become more grounded and connected to your whole and authentic self.

Family

Secure relationships are the foundation for a happy and healthy life, and this starts with the family.

Families thrive when each member feels safe, seen and heard.

I create the space for family members to learn to understand each other’s experiences with empathy, and bridge the gaps in communication.

Parent Coaching

Being a parent is challenging. While there is no training manual on how to raise children, I can assist you in better understanding your child's world and provide tools to help you navigate parenting with more confidence.

I help parents and caregivers discover the type of parent they want to be, what they want for their children, and support them in achieving their goals.

I offer both private sessions and group classes.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. (Emdria.org)

I practice a mindfulness based approach to EMDR, and utilize this technique as one of several tools to support my clients in reaching their goals.

A Little Bit About Me:

Hi! My name is Jennifer and I am Marriage and Family Therapist based in Los Angeles.  I was born and raised in LA as a first generation American. I hold a BA in Psychology from the University of Southern California, and an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Professional School of Psychology.

For the past 20 years I have worked in various capacities with children and families of many different ages and backgrounds.  I have several years of experience working as a behavioral interventionist with preschool and elementary school age children who displayed challenging behaviors. During this time, I worked in the classroom setting, side by side with teachers.  This experience gave me a unique perspective as I understand both the experience of children while at school as well as the expectations of their teachers.

My passion for helping children along with my wanderlust have enabled me to have incredible experiences working and volunteering all over the world, including extended time in South Africa and Israel.  My education, training, and life experiences have supported me in becoming a culturally sensitive clinician with a strong ability to build deep connections with people from all walks of life.
